Webster’s English Dictionary 1828 Volume 2 PDF

When reading English translations of the Bible it is often useful to use a dictionary from the time period of the text. We provide here the Webster English Dictionary from 1828.

Please be advised, that with all ancient texts, one must be careful and view it together with other editions/reprints (in case some text is lost or unreadable due to age etcetera). However, this does not reduce the pleasure of reading the original and ancient texts!

Please also be advised, that to ensure speedy download and reading, the Bible/book has been embedded (as Adobe pdf) – whilst it is downloading you will see a progress bar. However, before the download completes, if you scroll up or down, during this time, the page WILL look a bit weird. Wait till it downloads and all will be OK.

The Original Bible or book is below:

(Sometimes the Bible/book does not load, just change the page number and then retry the original page or refresh the web page)

This Is Page Number:

If you do not see the book on this page it is probably because Google Docs has not loaded it. Please either refresh the page or change the page number and it should start to work.

Index of the book (please forgive any unreadable bits: this index is computer generated from ancient texts):

  1. Thank you for hosting such an impressive and useful library of knowledge. I am very happy to have found this site and hope it lasts for many years.

I am sad however. It appears as if you do not provide a download link to a full text of the dictionary. I’m even more sad to see that it appears you’ve also *actively* prevented it by even using code to cause Google Docs to render no more than 1 page at a time, so even if we respected your bandwidth issue and hoped to obtain a copy by downloading from Google Docs.

I can [and will] write a script to save it page by page and then collate them into a single PDF, but
you have freely done such a tremendous amount of work to make the knowledge available online, that it boggles the mind that you wouldn’t put so much effort that [perhaps inadvertently] creates obstacles to its free distribution.

    1. Most of the Bibles are several GB in size.

If you follow the instructions on the Download a Bible page you should find a link on the archive site.
