We are happy to add here the 1594 Geneva Bible. This Bible is often called the Breeches Bible because of the spelling in Genesis 3:7 as “and they sowed figge-tree leaves together, and made themselves breeches.” According to scholars the word should have been “coverings”.
The Geneva Bible was called the “study bible” because of the inclusion of material that aids studying it e.g. indexes, maps, tables and various other features.
The quote from Wikipedia sums it up: “The Geneva Bible is one of the most historically significant translations of the Bible into the English language, preceding the King James translation by 51 years.” (Wikipedia)
Please be advised, that with all ancient texts, one must be careful and view it together with other editions/reprints (in case some text is lost or unreadable due to age etcetera). However, this does not reduce the pleasure of reading the original and ancient texts!
Please also be advised, that to ensure speedy download and reading, the Bible/book has been embedded (as Adobe pdf) – whilst it is downloading you will see a progress bar. However, before the download completes, if you scroll up or down, during this time, the page WILL look a bit weird. Wait till it downloads and all will be OK.
